Listening Recomendations
Many computers have
small speakers. This can result in not hearing online music at its optimum. If you don't have a good set of speakers and a subwoofer hooked up to your computer, try listening through headphones to get the best idea of what we really sound like.

Here are 6 song samples. We recorded them at Rebach Studios of Newburyport MA. Roger Ebacher, producer/engineer, has captured our live sound. In other words, these are all from a single take, playing together with no studio magic other than balancing the vocals and instruments. We think it is only fair to truthfully represent ourselves and how we sound in a live show. This way, you're hearing the real Stellwagen, not a glossy studio version. These were recorded with a bass player.
In addition, we have a christmas song on our home page. We'll leave that one up for a while. It was self-recorded recorded in our rehearsal space as a special project for oue fans.
If You're Here When I Get Back play MP3
Being an acoustic trio allows us to cover a wide range of styles. This John Eddy song may be about as "country" as we get, but the song has become a show staple and we know it's popular with our fanbase. Rob sings the lead vocal.
Hinkley of My Dreams play MP3
Based on Richard Shindell's Kenworth of My Dreams. But we are sailors, not truckers, so we modified the lyrics to fit our lifestyle better. Some references to help you understand the song: Hinkley makes just about the finest boats money can buy and is the dream of many a boater; channel 16 is the VHF radio channel monitored by boaters and the Coast Guard; Stellwagen Bank -- from which we also take our name -- is an historic fishing ground and
now a National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of Massachusetts.
Consequence Free play MP3
Ever wonder what things would be like if you could cast off those rules, regulations, and guilt, but still have some control? Here's a song that celebrates that idea. The band Great Big Sea out of Newfoundland wrote the original.
If I Needed Someone play MP3
Many people think of this as a Beatles song, but we think of it as a George Harrison song. A piece of Pop perfection with a simple message, simple construction but outstanding melody. We rearranged it enough to be different from the Beatles version, but true enough to George's intentions.
Can't Find the Time to Tell You play MP3
A local hit by the band Orpheus back in the late 60s, and became a hit in cities all across the country, but never at the same time. The original song is on the soundtrack of Me and Irene. Written by Bruce Arnold. Bruce tells us that though the hit had layers of instrumentation and embellishment with horns, strings, flutes, oboes and more, he wrote the song for two guitars and two voices. Okay, we added a bass and a third vocal. We hope we came close to what Bruce had in mind.
Space Oddity play MP3
David Bowie had a huge hit with this song about the best laid plans which quickly go awry. The original also had a lot of instrumentation, so we stripped it down to its basics and added a third harmony part. A trip into space is more than a trip, it's a voyage.

I Believe in Father Christmas play MP3
We decided we'd send out our Christmas Greetings to everyone with a little gift. This song was written by Greg lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. He originally recorded it as a solo effort but the other two ELP members liked it so much they begged to be included on the recording. There have been countless versions of it by other artists, so why not us as well? Two guys, two guitars, two voices just doing what we love to do. Hope you enjoy it! |

Feedback
If you have comments about any of the above recordings, likes and dislikes, let us know. Just remember that these are live recordings, not studio perfection. If you've seen us live and have a song you'd like to hear recorded by us, go to our contact page and send us a message. If you can't remember the song title, there is a partial list here. We hope to be back in the studio in late Fall to record more material. Your input could be very helpful. However, we can't record all our songs and leave no surprises for the show, right?
